About our Speakers (in order of appearance)

Pio Omana, Account Manager, Elsevier
Pio has been with Elsevier Singapore since 2012 as the Account Manager for the Philippine academic and government institutes under the research solutions division. He endeavors to improve the overall research ecosystem here in the Philippines and works closely with stakeholders who share a similar vision. With over 10 years of experience in the Publishing, Marketing and IT industries, Pio's experience includes stints with some of the world's largest Multi-National Companies like Reed Elsevier and IBM. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the De La Salle University.


Young Wu, Journal Publisher, Elsevier 
Young Wu is publisher for Agriculture and Soil Sciences Journals (15) within the Physical Sciences (PS) department of Elsevier. 
Prior to joining the PS department, Young worked at the Publishing Content Department within Elsevier for 4 years, most recently as senior publishing content specialist. Young holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and a Masters in Ecology from Chinese Academy of Sciences.


Nicholas Pak, Solution Consultant - Research Solutions, Elsevier 
Nicholas is responsible for establishing, maintaining and sharing in-depth knowledge of ScienceDirect, Scopus and Mendeley within the academic and government community. He strongly believes in successful implementation and adoption of products and solutions to deliver value for each customer organization.


Cristy Pineda, Solution Sales Manager - eBooks, Elsevier
Cristy is responsible for increasing awareness and building relationships at all levels for the academic and government markets in Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines for Elsevier. 
She has 9 years of experience in the IT sector, including that for the corporate and conglomerate segments for one of the biggest IT and Telecommunications company in Philippines. Cristy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce Major in International Business and Economics from Assumption College, and has a Management Development Program Certificate from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM).


QingYong Woon, APAC Market Development Manager – Mendeley, Elsevier 
Qingyong is the Mendeley specialist supporting Asia Pacific institutions and researchers. When he was writing his final year paper in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, he was using manual citation - typing word for word in the reference section. After discovering Mendeley, he was amazed how this tool can help to improve the researchers' workflow, giving them more time to be focused on doing actual research.


Raymond Teng, Senior Solution Sales Manager – Life Sciences, Elsevier 
Raymond helps academic and corporate organizations enable smarter chemistry to improve their research efficiency, by introducing tools that will help improve research quality and impact of their research by increasing exposure.

With 13 years of experience in the life sciences domain, his previous experiences span across PerkinElmer where he engaged with pharmaceutical and academic clients in Korea, Taiwan and SEA. His expertise included spearheading research projects in epigenetics when he was Associate Scientist with Eli Lilly Singapore Centre for Drug Discovery, as well as taking on the role of scientific researcher when he was with the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), A*STAR.
