The 21st Century has seen significant contribution by the women in Asia in the development of Science. The Young Women Researcher Award aims to acknowledge and strengthen women representation and their technological leadership, in particularly their efforts and contributions in achieving Research Excellence.

The TOP THREE short-listed candidates in each category will be invited to an all-expense paid trip to attend the award ceremony and present their work at the TWAS-TWOWS-SCOPUS Regional Young Women Scientists symposium. The top winner will receive a certificate and cash prize.

SHE is
- less than 45 years of age as of 1 July 2009
- employed at institutions of higher education in ASIA*
- engaged in graduate education and research activities
- that emphasise sustainable development
- an author who has published in peer-reviewed scientific literature or have registered patents
*(Asia excluding Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan)
