Asia Pacific News

December 2005

Dear Customer,

In the last two months, we have been busy organizing  trainings, Scopus - End User Awareness Days and attending events such as the Thai Academic Library Consortium Seminar and the Library Association of Singapore Gala Dinner.

In this issue, I'd like to bring you attention to the Scopus Librarian's Information site (link) that has been created to help our Scopus customers select from a range of resources the support and resources needed to promote of Scopus to their end-users. We have also recently launched the Elsevier Admin Tool and the latest issue of Library Connect newsletter and pamphlet are both available.

Meanwhile, we have continued to expand the content of ScienceDirect with the addition of more leading Major Reference Works titles and the creation  of the Medicine and Dentistry Backfiles in 17 Speciality Packages.

I hope you continue to find this newsletter useful. As I will be going on maternity leave from Dec 05 to Mar 06, please direct all your enquiries during this period to my colleague, Ching Ni at cn.wee@elsevier.com.

Best regards,

Bee Lan, Swee

Get the most out of Scopus

If you are a Scopus customer, you will soon be receiving an information kit listing the range of tools that are available to help you promote Scopus to your users. Some of these information can also be found at http://www.info.scopus.com/librarians/promote/

For more ideas on how we can help you promote Scopus, please contact cn.wee@elsevier.com.

Scopus End-User Awareness Days in Thailand

In Nov, we held Scopus demo days at Mahidol University, Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University and Thammasat University to help raise the level of awareness of Scopus at these campuses. At each location, at least 100 end-users turned up at our booth to find out more about Scopus. They also took part in quizzes and lucky dips.

Please send us an email if you are interested in working with Elsevier to organise similar promotional activities for Scopus.

Medicine and Dentistry Backfiles in 17 Specialty Packages

Due to the nature of specialty within the Health Sciences areas, there is a need for distinct backfiles packages for this market. In order to accommodate this, the Medicine and Dentistry Backfile has been split into 17 distinct specialty subjects, without content overlap between them.

These specialty packages, which can be sold separately or in combination with others, are listed here. Please visit the ScienceDirect Info Site for more information.

Elsevier Admin Tool Update

The Admin Tool is a web-based interface to allow customers to view and edit the relevant settings of your ScienceDirect and/or Scopus account.

If you are currently the administrator for your account on ScienceDirect and/or Scopus you will also have access to the Admin Tool by using your current credentials with which you enter the Administrators area on Scopus and/or ScienceDirect.
